Have a Holly Jolly Christmas - My Favourite Christmas Songs

Posted by Kathryn Harris-Lowe on

Anyone who knows me knows I LOVE Christmas music.  Honestly, I could listen to it all year round. Since it is less than two weeks until my favourite holiday, I thought I would share some of my favourite Christmas songs with you.  Frankly, it was really hard for me to narrow this list down... But here are six of my favourite Christmas songs (I was going to do five, but couldn't narrow it down any further).  There are many other classic Christmas songs that I didn't include on this list, but don't get me wrong, I still love them!

1. Mary, Did You Know - by Pentatonix

I love this group and I love this song, so the two combined is the perfect combination! I have performed this song twice in choir as well and honestly, it is one of my favourite songs to perform! I love the harmonies and the fact that while it puts a twist on the classic version, it still stays true to the original.  Some other Pentatonix Christmas songs worth mentioning include: That's Christmas to Me, Little Drummer Boy, Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy, and What Christmas Means to Me.

2. Oh Holy Night - by Lea Michele

Oh Holy Night is one of my all time favourite Christmas songs, and Lea Michele's version from Glee may be one of my favourite arrangements of it.  I sing this version of this song all the time on my way to and from work.

3. Christmastime is Here - from Charlie Brown Christmas

A Charlie Brown Christmas is my absolute favourite Christmas movie. We have a Charlie Brown Christmas tree in our home right now. While I love all the music from this movie, Christmastime is Here is possibly the most iconic song from it.

4. Grown Up Christmas List - by Kelly Clarkson

Wrapped in Red is one of my favourite Christmas albums. Kelly Clarkson is a phenomenal singer, so when you combine her vocals with Christmas songs, its a perfect match. While Grown Up Christmas List isn't on this album, it is one of my favourite Christmas songs Kelly Clarkson performs, and also one of my favourite Christmas songs I have performed in choir (hence why it is one of my favourite Christmas songs period).

5. Jingle Bells - by Micheal Buble

There are many different versions of the song Jingle Bells, but Micheal Buble's jazzy version is likely my favourite. I love listening to Michael Buble's album Christmas, and while I love all the songs on it, Jingle Bells is my favourite because of the jazzy twist.

6. A Holly Jolly Christmas - from Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer

Another one of my favourite Christmas movies is Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer. Like A Charlie Brown Christmas, I love all the songs from this movie, but A Holly Jolly Christmas is my favourite.

What's your favourite Christmas song?
