Interior Design Inspiration

Posted by Kathryn Harris-Lowe on

My last blog post was one my favourite blogs, if not my absolute favourite, because I got to show you the bathroom I redesigned (if you haven't read it yet, click here)! To follow up on last week's blog, I decided to tell you about where I get some of my interior design inspiration!

HGTV

I love watching HGTV shows, both for the reveal and the process of the renovation. While I know we don't get to see the entire renovation process on these shows, I like seeing any bit of the process as it is a bit of a glimpse into my potential future.

Here are some of my favourite design shows:

  • Masters of Flip
  • Fixer Upper
  • Property Brothers
  • Home Town

Style at Home

I love flipping through my Style at Home magazine every month! It helps keep me up to date on the latest trends, and it gives me plenty of design inspiration! I also love that I get to see photos of how a wide variety of Interior Designers have decorated spaces. It allows me to see photos and design styles from people that I may not have been able to be inspired by otherwise.

Social Media

This primarily applies to Instagram. I follow a variety of different accounts that give me design inspiration, including interior designers, magazines, home decor shops and bloggers. Some of my favourite Instagram accounts to follow for design inspiration include:

  • @allthingskortneywilson
  • @cementtileshop
  • @jillianharris
  • @hgtvcanada
  • @thetiffanypratt
  • @inthefunlane
  • @coastalhamptonstyle
  • @elledecor
  • @styleathome
  • @serenaandlily
  • @joannagaines
  • @thecrossdesign

Other

Work:
As you may remember from some of my previous blog posts, I currently work in a furniture store. While my position doesn't involve decorating, I get to see a wide variety of furniture styles set up into different vignettes, on a daily basis! It allows me to expand my views of and design aesthetics for interior design styles that I don't naturally lean towards.

Course:
Another thing you may remember from my previous blog posts is that I am currently taking an Interior Design course. While it gives me the opportunity to hone my own interior design skills, it also teaches me more about different design styles and how to apply them.
